As we approach winter break, we encourage all families to use this time as an opportunity for rest and restoration. After a busy first semester, students benefit from taking a step back to recharge physically, mentally, and emotionally. Whether it’s spending time with family, enjoying a favorite activity, or simply relaxing, these moments are essential for starting the second semester strong.
We also want to remind parents to remain mindful of their children’s online activity during this time. Social media can be a valuable tool for staying connected, but it’s important to monitor usage to ensure your child is making positive choices and staying safe. Talk with them about their online habits and set boundaries if needed, so this break is a healthy and productive one.
Winter break is also an excellent time to prepare for the second semester. Students must earn credits to stay on track for grade-level promotion. If your child struggled during the first semester and did not pass all their classes, they may need to complete credit recovery, attend summer school, or in some cases, face retention. It is crucial for students to demonstrate mastery of grade-level content and standards.
Parents, please take time during the break to talk with your child about their academic goals and strategies for improvement. We are here to support every student in reaching their full potential and are committed to working together with families to make that happen. Let’s use this winter break to refresh, reflect, and prepare for a successful second half of the school year!
If you ever have specific concerns, you can always reach out to CMS administration or your student's counselor, our school social worker, or your student's teachers for support! We are here to assist you in creating the safest, most successful environment for your student! As a reminder, students can also report concerns via email or Safe2SpeakUp on their iPads or phones.
